Although we are of a similar age, live in North Budapest, and share the same hobbies, our lives traveled on parallel paths for a long time, despite countless chances to cross. But fate, with a little help from technology, finally brought us together.
Our first meeting was in March 2022, and it went so well that we couldn’t wait to see each other again. One meeting turned into many, and soon we became enthusiasts of delicious pastries, long hikes, board game nights, Italian pizzerias, cultural programs, long walks, deep conversations—and, of course, each other. As the days went by, we became an ever-growing part of each other’s lives.
Just three months after we met, we attended a friend’s wedding together. It was there that we felt something truly special beginning to blossom between us. Now, more than three years after our first meeting, at the same venue where we attended that wedding as a new couple, we will say "I do" to spending our lives together.
While the idea of marriage had been floating around for a while, the proposal still felt like a secret mission. We spent a few days in Italy by Lake Como, where Miki—channeling skills that would make James Bond proud—secretly acquired the engagement ring. Despite the scorching 40°C heat, he chose to wear his warmer, multi-pocket trousers instead of the lightweight linen ones.
Though it raised some suspicion, it wasn’t enough to give away the surprise hidden in his pocket. So it came as a complete shock when, guided by instinct, he pulled out the ring during a spontaneous moment at the most breathtaking spot of our trip and asked the question. As you can probably guess, the answer was a resounding yes.
The entire trip was beautiful—the stunning mountains, the serene lake, the delicious pasta—but the proposal was undoubtedly the highlight. We spent four days exploring Lake Como, but from the very first evening onward, we were engaged! The following days were filled with celebrations, adventures, and ice cream at every turn.
From the moment we met, it was clear how much we had in common. We both love board games, hiking, gatherings with friends, and sports. We even share some favorite TV shows, and our work fields are surprisingly similar. These little connections quickly became a strong foundation for our relationship, as we always found exciting activities to enjoy together.
Miki and his best friend were avid hikers, regularly exploring the Blue Trail routes. Not long after, I joined them, and hiking became a shared passion. Over time, it also became the inspiration for our wedding theme. While we don’t hit the trails every weekend anymore, our love for nature and the outdoors remains, and incorporating it into our wedding felt like the perfect choice.
When we started planning the decorations, the color blue immediately stood out to both of us. From there, the idea of combining hiking, nature, and a playful nod to the Blue Trail grew into our wedding theme.
We initially thought choosing the theme was the hard part, but we quickly realized it was just the beginning. Every detail needed careful thought, but thankfully, the planning has gone smoothly. Our family and friends have been a tremendous help—whether offering ideas, pitching in with execution, or simply cheering us on.
Through this process, it became abundantly clear how lucky we are. Our families and friends not only accept our relationship but celebrate it, eagerly awaiting the chance to join us on our big day. Their support means the world to us, reminding us that, in life, we can always count on them as much as we count on each other.
This journey has been full of adventures, love, and challenges, and we can’t wait to share the next chapter of our story with you at our wedding. 💙
OUR STORY CONTINUES ON JULY 5, 2025, AND WE’D LOVE FOR YOU TO BE A PART OF IT!
